What are Hair Extensions?

Why do people get Hair Extensions?

There are many answers to this question (maybe you can relate to one or more of them). A few are:

	It’s taking too much time to grow my hair
	My hair is just too thin and fine
	I want a change my hair because I am bored of the same old style
	I wish to achieve the natural look of highlighting without the damaging effects of chemicals
	I want to disguise a bad haircut
	There is a wedding or other special occasion, and I want to have a fresh new look
	I am going on a modeling or film shoot

The type of hair I recommend and use on my clients is high quality 100% “Remy” European Human Hair. This is considered the best choice for Hair Extensions because the look and feel is identical to your own natural hair. Another advantage of using Human Hair is that it is not necessary to treat this hair any differently than your own hair. For instance, you can style Human Hair Extensions using hair styling tools such as a blow dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc. 

The hair I offer my clients is available in a wide variety of natural colors and different styles. I also offer high fashion colors such as pinks, purples, and blues. 

Please keep in mind that all hair is ordered specifically for each client. The hair you want is normally chosen due to its color, texture, and the various styles offered (straight, natural wave, deep wave, and spiral curl).  

The hair I offer my clients, which is 100% Human Hair, comes from Asia, India, Russia and Italy. This is sometimes referred to as “European” hair, but the hair that comes from each of these areas consists of different qualities. There are several Hair Extension methods I offer in which you can chose from, all methods use “European” hair.  

YES! I am a licensed Cosmetologist in the state of California. I have been fully trained to do all hair related services, which includes haircuts, hair color, hair styling, etc. Of course, I have also been trained and certified to do Hair Extensions.  

Your hair cannot be less than four inches in length in order to consider Hair Extensions.  

BEFORE THE APPLICATION OF YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS, make sure your hair is freshly washed on the day of the application but do NOT use any conditioner. In regards to the type of shampoo, use a clarifying shampoo (I will recommend a good clarifying shampoo during your FREE consultation). This will remove all hair care product build up and ensure your hair is squeaky clean and ready for your new Hair Extensions. Be aware, any hair care product build up will impair the duration of your Hair Extensions. Next, blow dry your hair STRAIGHT (do not style it). Make sure your hair is straight and completely dry.

Of course! Your Hair Extensions will be totally undetectable. I will create an exact match to your natural hair color, allowing the Hair Extensions to blend right in. They will feel soft, silky, and natural, and will become like your own hair. Although it will take a few days to adjust to having Hair Extensions in your hair, after the initial adjustment period, you will forget that you are even wearing Hair Extensions. You will be able to engage in all your normal activities, like swimming (make sure to wear swimming cap for protection), exercising, and dancing, without worrying about damaging your beautiful new hair. 

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! When I apply your Hair Extensions, they will be secured firmly at a comfortable level. The tension will be even over your entire head, without any area pulling or causing pain. Your Hair Extensions do not have to be very tight in order to be safe and secure. You will notice a slight difference with your Hair Extensions, but this will only last for the first day or two. After this time, you will not feel much of a difference, you won’t even know they are there.  

When it is time to have your Hair Extensions removed, you will notice slight hair loss. This does NOT mean that your hair has been pulled out! People normally lose between 50 to 100 hairs per day, but we do not realize this because our hair comes out gradually in the hairbrush, shower, on clothing, chairs, etc. This is NOT a problem, new hair grows at a similar rate to replace the hair which has fallen out. 

But when your hair is attached to Hair Extensions, your natural hair cannot "fall" normally; this is because it is trapped in the Hair Extension bonds. Once your Hair Extensions have been taken out, your natural hair must be detangled and the fallen hair removed. 

Sure! The Hair Extensions are not applied any lower than the base of your scalp (about even with the middle of your ears), which means that your hair under this point covers the Hair Extensions. This will allow you to wear it up in various styles such as pigtails, ponytails, French twists, French braids, etc.  

You can choose any length you want, from approximately 12 inches to 26 inches. Be aware that Hair Extensions longer than this will put extra weight on your scalp, which might cause headaches and lead to uneven pressure, damaging your own natural hair. The best and most natural looking Hair Extensions for the average women is usually around 22 inches or less.  

Each person is different therefore the price does vary. The total cost of your Hair Extensions is derived from the purchase of hair needed and selected (amount, density and quality of hair) and the fee to design and apply the Hair Extensions. In addition, the cost of Hair Extensions varies due to certain factors; this is mainly based on your present hair type and the desired result you wish to achieve. The following issues must be taken into consideration in order to determine the cost of your Hair Extensions:

      1) How long is your hair now? The shorter your hair is, the more hair needs to be added in order to blend in with the Hair Extensions

      2) How thin is your hair? If you have thin hair, less hair is needed. 

      3) How thick is your own hair? If you have thick hair, more hair is needed to match the density. 

      4) How long do you want your hair to be? The additional length you want added to your hair, the longer of hair is required.  

      5) Are you only interested in getting highlights/low lights? Adding highlights means less hair is needed.  

     6) Which Hair Extension method is best suited for you? Some Hair Extension methods vary in the amount of time it takes to perform the application. Therefore, the less time the application takes the lower the cost and the more time the application takes the higher the cost. 

Once I meet with you for your FREE consultation, we will discuss the Hair Extension method best suited for you, the type of hair to be used, and how much hair is required to get the magnificent glamorous results you have always imagined. The exact cost will be determined during your FREE consultation.  

The client consultation is the first step and a vital part of the Hair Extension service I offer. The consultation provides both the Hair Extension Stylist (myself) and client with the opportunity to meet in person and discuss exactly what is desired and expected in regards to your Hair Extensions service. Additionally, the consultation allows me to accurately calculate the total cost of your Hair Extensions.

During your FREE consultation, we will discuss the desired length of your Hair Extensions plus look at the various hair colors, textures, and styles available. In addition, together we will determine which Hair Extensions technique will be best suited for the condition of your hair and then plan the design for your fabulous new hair.

Hair Extensions By Lauren Ashley Davis will typically last 3 months for a full head of hair. 

In order for your Hair Extensions to last and remain healthy for this amount of time, you MUST follow the recommended aftercare instructions, hair care products, (I will recommend a good hair care product line during your FREE consultation), and MAINTENANCE PLAN (within 20 miles of Burbank). However, they can last longer depending on the Hair Extension method used, and of course, you must take excellent care of your Hair Extensions.   

It also depends on a few factors, some of which are:

	Growth rate of your hair
	Your level of activity
	The degree of oiliness of your hair
	The Hair Extension method used
	The quality of hair selected

It is strongly advised that you go to your Hair Extension MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS! Your first Hair Extension MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT will be arranged within 10 to 14 days after your application, there is NO CHARGE for this. Your next follow-up MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT (This appointment is free within 20 miles of Burbank) will be arranged after six weeks. During this service, any hairs caught up in the Hair Extension bonds are removed and any weakened bonds are replaced, giving your Hair Extensions more longevity. Remember, the greater care you take of your Hair Extensions, the longer they will stay looking sensational. 

However, if you can’t live without your Hair Extensions, don’t worry! They can be removed and reapplied the same day. 

This depends on the Hair Extensions method and hair you select for your Hair Extensions. In most cases, yes, you can re-use the hair. However, this is ultimately determined by the condition of the hair.  

After care for your Hair Extensions should not be a chore or time consuming, but is very important. Naturally there are precautions you need to take with your Hair Extensions. One example is styling your hair. Although it is best to dry your hair naturally, you may style your hair as normal. But you must avoid direct heat from any hair styling tools, such as hairdryers and straighteners, on the Hair Extension bonds. Too much heat can weaken and ultimately damage the bonds causing Hair Extensions to fall out. In addition, it is best to use the appropriate hair care products. I will recommend the hair care products best suited for you during your FREE consultation. 

This, plus other after care instructions, will be covered in the “Hair Extensions: After Care Guide” which will be supplied to you once your Hair Extensions have been applied.

To maximize the value of your Hair Extensions you must  follow the MAINTENANCE PLAN, which I will review with you once your Hair Extensions have been applied. Included are FREE MAINTENANCE follow-up appointments (within 20 miles of Burbank), using the recommended hair care products and hair styling tools, complying with the wash and style instructions, etc. 

The correct care of your Hair Extensions will ultimately determine the appearance and longevity of your Hair Extensions, as well as the preservation of your natural hair.

Absolutely!!! I will introduce you to your MAINTENANCE PLAN, which will support and benefit you for the entire time you wear your Hair Extensions. It is essential to follow the recommended MAINTENANCE PLAN so that your Hair Extensions will continue to remain in the best possible condition. 

Your first Hair Extensions MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT, which of course is FREE, will be arranged within 10 to 14 days after your application. This will allow me to check your Hair Extensions to ensure they have been properly cared for and still look as fabulous as the day your Hair Extensions were applied. Your next Hair Extensions MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT will be scheduled 6 weeks from the day the Hair Extensions were applied (this appointment is also free within 20 miles of Burbank).

NO!!! Hair Extensions will NOT cause damage to your hair when correctly applied by a professional licensed Cosmetologist who has been certified and trained in Hair Extensions, such as myself. Once the Hair Extensions are applied, the responsibility of caring for the Hair Extensions transfers to you, the client. To keep the appearance and quality of your Hair Extensions, and to avoid any damage, you MUST properly care for them.

To ensure the best condition of your Hair Extensions, it is very important to follow the recommended Hair Extensions after care instructions which will be provided to you. In addition, you MUST schedule your FREE (within 20 miles of Burbank) MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS. As Hair Extensions come out, I need to put them back in, and as they grow out they need replacing. Your Hair Extensions require great care in order to get the most out of them.  

YES. This is just one of the many effective advantages you can enjoy with Hair Extensions. Plus you get to choose the color you want instantly; this might not be possible with hair color. One big advantage of getting Hair Extensions is that you are never exposed to any harmful dyes or solutions which can cause damage to your own hair due to harsh chemicals. This allows you the benefit of getting chemically free natural looking highlights and/or low lights, or unique color splashes, or even bold neon's, reds, blacks, blues, yellows, pinks, purples, greens, etc. Whatever the look you wish to achieve, it is all is possible with Hair Extensions.  

How do you match my color, even if I have highlights?

As a licensed Cosmetologist, I have been trained to work with color. In order to match your hair color for the Hair Extensions, I will use a “hair color ring” which has a wide range of human hair color swatches. The hair swatches on the “hair color ring” will allow me to identify the color(s) needed to match your hair color.  

For natural hair color: I will look at your hair, near the scalp, from the middle section to the ends. This is the area of your hair that needs to be matched to the “hair color ring swatch”. 

For highlights: I will look at your highlighted hair color and match it to the “hair color ring swatch”.  

Once I have matched your hair color to the hair swatches on the “hair color ring”, I can then order your hair. Blending hair colors might be necessary to match your natural hair color as well as your highlights.  

YES! As a licensed Cosmetologist I have been fully trained to cut, color, and style hair, and can do these services for you either before or after your Hair Extension application. Once your Hair Extensions have been applied, I will cut your hair so that it will be well blended and look natural, and of course, absolutely fabulous. 

If you wish to have your hair color done, such as your regrowth (roots) touched up, I can perform this service for you as well, either before or after I have applied your Hair Extensions. If you do wish to color your hair, it is recommended that this be done at least three days before your Hair Extensions application.  

NO! It is definitely NOT advisable for you to color your own hair with Hair Extensions. If you want your hair color done, I can perform this service for you. I do advise my clients to have their hair color done prior to their Hair Extension application. As I have already stated, it is recommended to have your hair color done at least three days before your Hair Extensions application.  

YES. As long as your Hair Extensions are made of Human Hair. I only use high quality 100% “Remy” European Human Hair for my clients Hair Extensions, unless the client wishes to get synthetic hair, which I do not recommend. When Hair Extensions are made of Human Hair, you may style your hair using hair styling tools such as a blow dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc. Please be aware not to heat the Hair Extension bonds. Prolonged exposure to heat may weaken the bonds.  

There are hair care products made specifically for the type of Hair Extensions you have chosen. Also, there are certain hair care product lines available that can work well too. This is a decision which needs to be discussed in order to determine which hair care products will be best for your Hair Extensions. I will review this with you during your FREE consultation. As I have previously stated, the correct care of your Hair Extensions will ultimately determine the appearance and longevity of your Hair Extensions, as well as the preservation of your natural hair.  This includes using the appropriate hair care products.  

YES. The type of brush which should be used for Hair Extensions, is a “soft bristle” brush. However, the use of a “Hair Extension” brush is highly recommended, it is made explicitly for Hair Extensions. This specific type of brush is a lot gentler on Hair Extensions and helps prevent knotting or frizzing. 

Since each client is different, it is nearly impossible to give an exact length of time for the Hair Extension application. There are a few factors which ultimately determines how long your Hair Extension application will take. The main factor is the Hair Extension technique selected, which will be decided during your FREE consultation. The Hair Extension application will take a minimum of two hours, again, depending on the Hair Extension technique applied.  

Although it can take a few hours to apply your Hair Extensions, I will do my absolute best to make your Hair Extension service a pleasurable one. To make your Hair Extension application appointment less tedious and more enjoyable, I provide my clients with a few amenities. You will receive refreshments or a courtesy meal (to be discussed during the FREE consultation) depending on the amount of time needed for your Hair Extension application. In addition, you will be supplied with a DVD player and a selection of DVD’s (plus you can bring your own), so that your Hair Extension service is as delightful as possible. Of course, please feel free to bring whatever else you will need to make your Hair Extension application appointment a pleasant and comfortable experience. 

There really is no need to give your hair a rest between the application of your Hair Extensions. If your Hair Extensions are properly applied and removed, your own hair remains undamaged. Most people prefer to have their Hair Extensions removed and replaced on the same day, so their hair continues looking natural without anyone the wiser. 

The process of removing your Hair Extensions is done very carefully. I gently work at each hair strand to untangle it. Then, using the applicable removal method for the type of Hair Extensions applied to your hair, I maintain extreme caution by delicately removing the bonding agent from each Hair Extension, one at a time, allowing the Hair Extension to slip off freely from your natural hair. This is done with a releasing solution that allows me to remove the Hair Extensions safely, without causing any damage to your own hair. Please be advised that it might take up to 3 hours for your Hair Extensions to be removed. 

Three to five days before your Hair Extensions are removed, I suggest that you start using deep conditioners, especially on the Hair Extension bonds. This will make the removal process quicker.  

There are several different Hair Extension methods that I offer my clients. The method selected usually depends on the hair quality used, the hair length desired, and amount of hair needed to get the type of Hair you have always imagined. I choose what I consider to be the best approach for your hair, always putting the client first, without any allegiance to a specific Hair Extension Company’s technique.  

I take a very individualistic approach. Every client is different, and as such, the hair I design will reflect your own particular style needs and preference. Your hair will look completely natural, not even your family or friends will be able to tell!  

After meeting you for your FREE consultation and discovering exactly what you want your desired look to be, I will review the Hair Extension methods with you and then recommend the technique which will best suit you.  

All the Hair Extension methods I offer are the latest in technology, developed to be a safe and comfortable process, with no harsh or damaging chemicals.

I do not have a salon. Instead, I prefer to provide my services through relationships which I have established with salons throughout the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. The salons I selected have great parking, clean attractive appearances, and a friendly, creative atmosphere.
