Instead, Hair Extensions by Lauren Ashley Davis only uses Keratin, which is the protein found in human hair, as it’s bonding agent.  I only use high quality 100% human hair strands carefully and meticulously blended with your own natural hair. With my advanced technique, there is no damage or loss to your natural hair.

Your Hair Extension adventure begins with a FREE consultation at your home. I evaluate your hair and scalp, determine the texture of your hair, then color match your natural hair color so it will blend perfectly with your new Hair Extensions. Next, I show you the quality of the 100% “Remy” human hair I offer, the only type I use as it is judged to be of the highest quality and has been proven over the years to be the best type of hair for Hair Extensions.  

After you see and feel the hair, I review the length, thickness, and style you wish to achieve. I then do a FREE Hair Extension demonstration applying one to two Hair Extension “strands” allowing you to evaluate the delicate skill and quality of my Hair Extension application technique. Following the Hair Extension application demonstration, I remove the Hair Extensions using my own gentle system, which I developed through years of experience.

Another factor to take into consideration is where to have your Hair Extensions applied.  Salons are probably the worst place to have Hair Extensions applied because of the social environment, tendency for distraction, and lack of privacy. To properly apply Hair Extensions, the person doing the application must concentrate and carefully apply the Hair Extensions in a pattern that fits the natural shape of your head and compliment your natural hair. I examine each Hair Extension strand. If any have slipped due to accidentally getting conditioner or heat on the bond, I will take the Hair Extension strand out and reposition it correctly. One of the questions everyone asks about Hair Extensions is “How long does the application process take?” Every client is different. Each client has different types of hair texture and cuts, length, volume, fine or thick hair, etc. The Hair Extension application is determined by what the client ultimately wants to achieve with the Hair Extensions. For example, most clients want to add length, additional volume, or both. While other clients wish to get highlights or lowlights without the damaging effects of harsh chemicals. 

The Strand-By-Strand Fusion Hair Extensions method, which I specialize in, is an advanced form of Hair Extension application. Installation time varies from client to client. In addition, I offer my clients three options:

A.)  Normal Thickness

B.)  Medium Thickness

C.)  Extra Thickness

Since most of my clients choose to get either medium or extra thick Hair Extensions, the time for the application increases because the Strand-By-Strand Fusion Hair Extension method is very intricate, it takes time to do it accurately. 

Depending on the length and desired thickness, the Hair Extension application can take from 4 to 8 hours.  

HAIR EXTENSION METHODS

Following are the three primary Hair Extension techniques available today:

1.  STRAND-BY-STRAND HAIR EXTENSIONS

KERATIN (PROTEIN)//BOND BASED HAIR EXTENSIONS

Strand-By-Strand Fusion: This Hair Extension method is best described as taking strands of hair, tipped with protein bonds made specifically for human hair, and fusing them to small sections of the client’s natural hair, near the scalp. This is done by using a special applicator and will not cause any harm to your natural hair or scalp. 

This Technique requires a high level of skill by the Hair Extension stylist, with a detailed eye for Hair Extension placement resulting in a flawless application. In addition, special technical knowledge and experience is required to meticulously apply the Hair Extensions so they do not show, making them undetectable and very natural looking.  

The hair predominately used for this method is 100% “Remy” human hair. There are various types and grades of human hair with the most popular being European, which is of very good quality.  A more expensive hair type is Indian; as it is considered to be naturally thick and lustrous, in turn, giving the best possible styling and application for Hair Extensions. 

The bonds on good grade European and Indian “Remy” human hair are strong, and because they are made of Keratin (protein), the Hair Extensions are not harmful to your hair.  

The Strand-By-Strand Fusion Hair Extension method typically lasts from three to four months, and sometimes even longer. This ultimately depends on the client's natural hair, and most importantly, the daily care and maintenance performed by the client.  

The Strand-By-Strand Fusion Hair Extension method is considered to be the most natural looking, longest lasting and comfortable Hair Extension technique. It is affordable, dependable, and safe for the client.  

NON KERATIN (PROTEIN)/BOND BASED HAIR EXTENSIONS

• Micro-Cylinder Hair Extensions: This Hair Extension method does not use Keratin (protein) bonds. Tiny tubes called micro-cylinders made of metal, such as aluminum or copper, are used to attach the hair strands to the client’s own hair by using a special tool. The cylinders come in different colors and sizes, and are available in different qualities. 

Often the bonds “lose” their grip and the Hair Extensions often shed. These bonds have to be reapplied on a regular basis to prevent excessive hair loss.

2.  WEFT HAIR EXTENSIONS

A weft is a track of hair several inches long.  The hair is pre-attached at the top and flows at the bottom like a curtain of hair. A weft can be made by a machine or by hand. Handmade wefts are better and custom made to suit your head and match your hair. The extensions are applied by attaching the “curtain” of weft hair to a row of your own hair. This method tends to be heavy and tight, restricting the client’s natural hair flow. This application lasts about a month, but many people have them removed sooner because they are uncomfortable and the look tends to be unnatural.

Braiding and weaving creates more tension to your hair and scalp because it is tight and therefore has a tendency to pull.  Some clients complain about being uncomfortable and having headaches when using these Hair Extension methods. 

Bonded Weft Hair Extensions: This variation of the Weft Hair Extension method consists of applying a weft with adhesive to the client’s hair or scalp, depending on the Hair Extension Stylist. For some people it will last a few weeks, and for others, it loosens up after the first shampoo.

Braided Weft Hair Extensions – Sewn In Hair Extensions (also known as “Track & Sew”): This Hair Extension method first involves a braid that is created from the client’s own hair, then the weft is sewn onto the braid. The number of tracks (rows) depends on what the client wants. This application tends to weigh down a person’s natural hair, can be detectable, is very binding, and has a very short life of about a month.

3.  CLIP-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

This is considered a TEMPORARY Hair Extension method. As the name implies, you can clip this type of Hair Extension onto your own hair whenever you want to and take it out at night before you go to sleep. These Hair Extensions often fall out from time to time when least expected and can be very embarrassing.
