Treat
your Hair Extensions BETTER then your own natural hair.
Some
of the Hair Extensions can fall out (maximum 10%) in the first few days.
This is absolutely normal. Do NOT throw them out. Instead, collect each
one so that they can be re-attached.
Before
the application of your Hair Extensions, make sure your hair is freshly
washed on the day of the application, but do NOT use any conditioner or
other hair care products. In regards to the type of shampoo, use a clarifying
shampoo. This will remove all
product build up and make sure your hair is squeaky clean and ready for
your new Hair Extensions. Be aware that any hair care product build up
will impair the duration of your Hair Extensions. Next, blow dry
your hair STRAIGHT (do not style it). Come to your Hair Extension
application appointment with your hair straight and completely dry.
After
the application of your Hair Extensions, do not wash your hair for, no
less than, 48 hours.
Use
the aftercare hair products recommended during your Hair Extension
consultation.
Follow
the MAINTENANCE PLAN given to you by your Hair Extension Stylist (myself).
This will keep your Hair Extensions looking great and lasting as long as
possible.
Regular
washing of your Hair Extensions should be done every 2 to 3 days.
Never
use any hair care products that contain sulfur in it, such as dandruff
shampoos.
Always
brush your hair prior to shampooing and after shampooing to avoid tangles.
When
brushing your hair (with Hair Extensions), always be gentle, NEVER harsh.
Use a soft bristle brush (a “Hair Extension brush” is highly
recommended). First, make sure
you hold your hair while brushing to avoid tension on the roots. Now,
start brushing your hair at the ends and gently work your way up to the
top (crown) of your head. Use caution when brushing your hair near the
Hair Extension bonds. Brush your hair in a downward motion. Remember that
your natural hair is attached to the Hair Extensions. If
you pull too hard, this may result in the loss of some Hair
Extensions as well as your own natural hair.
Remember,
only use the shampoos, conditioners, and other hair care products which
were discussed and recommended by your Hair Extension Stylist (myself)
during your Hair Extension consultation. For example, you should avoid
hair care products that contain alcohol. Alcohol will make your hair dry.
Always
wash your hair with cool to warm water. NEVER use hot water. This will
damage the Hair Extension bonds.
Shampoo
your hair in the shower and allow the water to flow through the Hair
Extensions. You must also take care of your own natural hair that is
underneath your Hair Extensions.
When
washing your hair, do so with your head leaning backwards. Also, do NOT
use a scrubbing or rubbing motion. Gently use your fingers to wash your
hair, do this in a downward motion.
While
washing your hair, NEVER pile it on top of your head. This will cause your
hair to tangle.
When
using conditioner, only put it on the ends to the middle of your hair. Do
not condition your scalp and NEVER condition the Hair Extension bonds,
this can cause the Hair Extensions to loosen and slip.
When
rinsing your hair, rinse for a few seconds extra as the increased volume
created by your Hair Extensions may mean it takes a little longer to rinse
out the hair care products used.
Make
sure you rinse your hair thoroughly. If
shampoo or conditioner is left in our hair, it will cause hair care
product buildup.
The
use of a professional detangling spray is recommended. Only spray your
hair lightly, 1 or 2 sprays at the most!
Never
use any oil or silicone based products around the Hair Extension bonds.
Some examples of these products are Frizz Ezz, Paul Mitchell Super Skinny,
Bio Silk Serum, etc. These types of products are great to use on the HAIR
ENDS, but that is it!
If
you use hair spray or other styling products, avoid those containing
alcohol. (Alcohol makes hair dry).
Always
dry your hair after it has been washed. It is best to dry your hair
naturally, but hair styling tools, such as a blow dryer, can be used (it
is recommended to set it on a low or medium heat setting). Just make sure
not to use direct heat on the Hair Extension bonds. Prolonged exposure to
heat may weaken the bonds.
Dry
your hair by patting it with a towel. NEVER rub you hair, this can cause
damage to your Hair Extensions.
The
use of good “leave-in” hair conditioner is recommended. This will keep
your hair from becoming overly dry and/or tangled, allowing your hair to
remain soft and manageable. Be advised NOT to put conditioner on your Hair
Extension bonds or scalp. Additionally, do NOT use too much conditioner on
your hair period. Remember, the use of too much conditioner will result in
hair care product build causing your hair feel too heavy. If your hair
does begin to feel too heavy, you should wash your hair.
Regular
separating of your Hair Extensions will prevent tangles. Run your fingers
through them on a regular basis. This will keep them healthy, tangle free,
and in good condition.
You
should brush your hair regularly (remember, brush your hair gently and
never harshly), at least 2 to 3 times a day. This will help to keep your
hair from getting tangled.
You
must NOT pull, tug, or needlessly fiddle with your Hair Extensions; this
can weaken the bonds and cause the Hair Extensions to loosen.
NEVER
go to sleep with wet hair, the reason for this is simple, this will cause
your hair to tangle and become matted.
At
nighttime, before you lie down to go to sleep, gently tie your hair back
in a loose braid or twist. This will help prevent tangles or knots. Only
use a hair “Scrunchy” to hold your hair in place, never use a
Rubber Band. Rubber Bands can tangle in the hair over night.
NEVER
color or bleach your Hair Extensions.
Only a licensed Cosmetologist, who has been trained in Hair Extensions,
such as myself, should be allowed to do this type of hair service.
Make
sure you have your hair regrowth (roots) touched
up
by a licensed
Cosmetologist who
has experience working with Hair Extensions. Not all licensed Cosmetologist
work
with Hair Extensions. Of course, I have been trained to do this and can
perform this hair service for you.
Do
not attempt to remove or have someone else remove your Hair Extensions.
The only one allowed to remove your Hair Extensions is a professionally
licensed Cosmetologist who has been certified and trained in Hair
Extensions, such as myself.
Wear
a cap (to protect your hair) when swimming or keep your hair out of the
water. Chlorine and salt water can cause the hair to tangle and mat up.
If
you exercise, it is recommended that you wear your hair up or in a
ponytail.
The
use of a Sauna is NOT recommended.
